Michelle says: ‘I started my business Equality Pays last year whilst on maternity leave from my job. There are a number of reasons why I started but the main one is because I wanted to be more ‘hands-on’ with companies struggling to get family-friendly entitlements right.  For those of you who don’t know what that is, it consists of 3 main employment rights; pregnancy and maternity, shared parental leave and flexible working.  These are great and fantastic rights for employees and can be great for employers too, but let’s face it, it can be tricky to navigate and get right. This is where Equality Pays comes in.

I believe that it is possible for employers to get family friendly entitlements right and run a thriving business. So I try to make it easier for employers to understand how to do this.  Every year employers waste thousands of pounds defending tribunal claims for discrimination and losing talent.  My job is to find solutions to employers’ problems by avoid making mistakes and ending up in expensive tribunals.

I have 8 years’ experience in helping employers understand employment law and discrimination law. Now I can do this for businesses on a one-to-one basis.’
