Cityparents Accelerator Event
Last Friday, PfP Coaching attended the inaugural Cityparents Accelerator Event, hosted by EY in Canary Wharf. It was a fantastic one-day conference with keynote speeches, access to career, parenting and wellbeing experts as well as networking opportunities with other City professionals.
During the day we heard two inspirational keynote speeches; the first from former Sky newsreader Samantha Simmonds covering her perspectives on balancing a challenging career and parenthood, and the second from Professor Tanya Byron on the topic of ‘How to help children fulfil their potential’.
We attended four 45 minute seminars during the day. The first two seminars were run by Riverside Cares; ‘Feed your children well’ looked at different food groups, how to identify food eating issues and promote a rounded diet. ‘Paediatric First Aid’ covered choking, febrile convulsion and the signs & symptoms of meningitis. The third seminar was ‘Survival to Sustainability’ run by Talking Talent, a session specifically designed to support working parents 1-5 years after returning to work, looking at what will make you more effective as a professional and as a parent. The last seminar was ‘Confident Communication’ run by Voice Limited, we heard advice on how to communicate effectively through voice projection, good presentation skills and confident delivery – a fun session to round off the seminar programme.
The day ended with a drinks reception to celebrate Cityparents’ fourth anniversary. The event was open to all City professionals balancing a career and home / family responsibilities – for more information on Cityparents see http://www.cityparents.co.uk
As with all the CPD events we attend, we will ensure our learning is used in our workshops and shared with all the working parents we connect with.
