As the second round of gender pay gap reporting draws to a close, the news isn’t good. Many companies, including npower, Kwik Fit and Virgin Atlantic, have attracted criticism for reporting even wider pay gaps than they did last year.

If there’s anything to be learned, it’s that the underlying issues driving pay disparity have yet to be addressed. Issues such as unproductive ‘seen to be there’ cultures and flexibility stigma, which prevent women in particular from progressing into more senior roles.
