Emma Menzies

Professional Fertility Coach, United Kingdom

Emma works predominantly with professional women who are experiencing fertility challenges. She specialises in helping them manage these challenges in harmony with their career.

Emma knows first-hand how difficult and all-consuming fertility challenges can be, and how extensively they can impact all areas of life, including working life. This drives her to help those who are struggling, so they can lead fulfilling lives while they’re on their path towards parenthood.

Background

Emma previously worked as an Employment Lawyer. She started her legal career with a multinational law firm, then after completing a short secondment to a British multinational bank, she moved permanently in-house with a British multinational retailer. She spent over 13 years with these organisations, providing advice on a range of career and workplace issues.

During the latter half of her legal career, Emma experienced her own fertility challenges. Years of trying to manage these challenges while maintaining a high level of performance in a demanding role, eventually took its toll on her wellbeing. It was through coaching that she was able to reinvent and reinvigorate her career, implement healthier habits and ways of working, turn her desperate need for a baby into a healthy desire, and continue to pursue that desire with a greater sense of ease, while living a life she loved. This inspired her to qualify as a coach herself, and support others who were struggling as she had done.

Experience and qualifications

Emma’s personal experience includes an 11-year journey of unexplained infertility, recurrent fertility treatment failure, and recurrent baby loss, and the challenges of managing this in conjunction with a corporate legal career.

Professionally she has practised employment law for over 13 years, advising clients in a variety of sectors, on a range of issues, such as attendance, ill-health, performance, flexible working and discrimination. She has supported numerous women and employers with fertility related issues and spoken widely on the topic of fertility at work.

In addition to her legal expertise, Emma is a qualified coach. Her coaching work draws on both her professional insight and lived experience, helping others navigate fertility, loss, and work with compassion and confidence.

Approach to coaching

Emma draws on her personal and professional experience in her coaching. It gives her a unique understanding of the needs, challenges, rights, and obligations, of her clients, and their employers, in relation to the intersection of fertility issues and work. This in turn enables her to build a strong rapport with her clients and ask the powerful questions that challenge their perception of themselves and their situation.

Emma uses, and offers her clients, a variety of tools to help them clarify what they really want and overcome their internal barriers to success. She takes great pleasure in seeing them realise their potential and thrive, even in adversity.

“Emma supported me to navigate the trials of fertility treatments alongside a busy and demanding career. Her experience has been invaluable in building up my toolbox to deal with both, and the results have left me feeling resilient and in control both at work and in my personal fertility journey.” Coachee

“While I’m still on my fertility journey, I now move through it with a deeper sense of resilience. Through coaching, Emma has taught me that I can weather the hard days without losing myself—and how to be kinder to myself in the process. She’s given me practical tools to help manage my emotional states, and a way to reconnect with who I am beyond this experience. She is patient, kind and thoughtful, and has a real gift for helping you feel seen and heard, while gently guiding you toward new perspectives and possibilities.” Coachee

“Coaching with Emma has been a very key element of my personal transformation and has really accelerated my achievements and success whilst also helping me to understand underlying values and beliefs. Without this understanding, I wouldn’t be able to look at creating new beliefs for myself or have the breakthroughs I have experienced. I would highly recommend Emma; her style is sensitive, warm, considered and thought-provoking. She will help you change your life”. Coachee
