How parental transition coaching helped me regain confidence at work

Parent and Professional’s Parental Transition Coaching provides a confidential, supportive space to navigate this change, helping working parents feel more confident, in control, and supported as they adjust to their new reality.

Through one-to-one sessions, parents clarify their goals, manage expectations to build a sustainable balance between their career and family life.

We spoke with a recent Coachee about how Parental Transition Coaching helped them feel more supported, confident, and balanced in both their personal and professional life.

So, how did the parental transition programme work for you?

At first, I was hesitant about coaching. I don’t find it easy to express how I feel to others, and I wasn’t sure if it would be for me. But from the very first session, my coach put my mind at ease. She went at my pace, guided me when needed, and created a completely comfortable and confidential space.

Over the course of my three sessions, I found myself feeling lighter, as if a weight had lifted off my shoulders. Every time I finished a session, my mind felt clearer, and I was much happier and more confident in myself.

That sounds great, what did you find most beneficial from the coaching?

Having a confidential space with an external coach made such a difference. I really valued the opportunity to talk openly, without pressure or judgment, and to focus on what I needed.

My coach is incredible at what she does, she listens, she supports, and she genuinely helps you feel comfortable from the start. I left every session feeling energised, confident, and ready to take on the challenges of balancing work and family life.

The coaching not only helped me feel more confident about my career but also changed how I approach my work-life balance. It gave me practical tools and a fresh perspective, which I’ve been able to apply every day.

What did you gain most from the experience?

The impact has been huge. After every session, I felt like I was going back to work with a clearer mindset, knowing what I wanted to achieve both professionally and personally.

Most importantly, I feel proud of myself. My coach didn’t just help me gain confidence – she helped me recognise my own strengths and take ownership of my goals.

For anyone about to go on maternity leave, what would be your top tip?

I would recommend this to anyone who has the opportunity. I’m incredibly grateful my organisation offered this support, and I can’t recommend my coach enough – 10/10!

If you’re feeling unsure, like I was, I’d say: go for it. It’s a chance to reflect, reset, and build confidence in yourself as you navigate this new phase of life.
